Reporting to the General Counsel, this is a pivotal leadership role accountable for managing all aspects of product compliance across The Reject Shop’s diverse and evolving product range.
As the subject matter expert in product quality and compliance at The Reject Shop, you’ll partner closely with key internal teams including Merchandise, Supply Chain and Store Operations as well as external suppliers and regulators, ensuring our products are safe, compliant, and ready for sale across Australia.
This is a full-time role based at our Kensington office, with hybrid flexibility (3 days in office / 2 days WFH).
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
· Leading and overseeing The Reject Shop’s product compliance policy and quality assurance framework across all merchandise categories
· Working closely with suppliers and the Merchandise team to ensure all products comply with applicable regulatory requirements and product safety standards including ACCC, TGA, AICIS, iChEMS, FSANZ, electrical, trade measurement)
· Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing compliance team
· Monitoring legislative and regulatory changes, and preparing the business to respond in a timely manner
· Conducting product reviews and benchmarking to ensure compliance and market competitiveness
· Responding to and liaising with regulators, ensuring swift and effective resolution of issues
· Educating internal stakeholders on product compliance obligations and risk
· Driving a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
What You’ll Bring:
· Minimum 5+ years experience in a senior product compliance or quality assurance role, ideally in retail
· Strong knowledge of Australian Consumer Law and product safety requirements across general merchandise and consumable products
· Experience leading compliance teams and managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships, with a focus on continuous improvement
· Experience with product testing and certifications
· Experience managing product recalls and regulatory investigations
· Confident communicator who can advise, educate and influence at all levels
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, and a calm, solutions-focused mindset
